  1. Great presentation!!

It would cost more money to cook the dog with gas here then the dog itself.

There they pay 300$ for the food, here we pay +- 1000$ for the pet..??? Who makes sense now?

Well must go pet my dog now..

    Love you

  2. Video was enlightening. Well this is hard to comment on. I will most likely never ever eat dog meat. I'm sure it tastes good but I have a hard time picturing the butcher about to kill the dog while the dog is soo excited to see him. What dog breed is it? Love Dad.

  3. They raise one type of dog for meat. Can't remember the name off hand... If you type "Korean Dog" in Google, you'll be able to find it. It's medium to large-sized breed with fluffy fur (usually white or orange) and a snout kind of like a German Shepherd.
And yes, it's always tough to see your food being killed before you eat it... Trust me, killing chickens isn't pretty either.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the comment!

  4. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Getting people to question their cultural habits is exactly what I was hoping for. There's no right or wrong in this situation... just different.
    Thanks for the comment!

  5. Yup! That's definitely a difficult one to comment on especially when Yoda is sitting on my lap...however - in all honesty - I'm glad that you did try it while you were there since we've been experiencing a lot of things through yours and Jessica's eyes and this can be added to that. No - I wouldn't be able to eat it - but your video was tastefully done (no pun intended!) and you really were just showing us another aspect of Korean culture. If you had pulled out a human foot out of the pot, then that would have been a different story!!!
Yes - it is an animal and we tend to turn a blind eye to our method of brutally slaughtering our cattle, chickens etc.

Thanks Ken for the videos! love MOM

    Hey Ken ,

To be honest I understand that they eat the dog meat and it is probally really good but I Would'nt eat it here, I would most probally try it over there , but here dogs are mans best friend and you don't eat your best friend ... usually. When you look at it in another way... dogs are a part of the food chain , and unfortuately for them, we are above them.

So yea... pretty weird but at the same time , bleh , I dunno.. seems weird but normal at the same time.

  8. Let me start by saying I love the way you presented this opportunity. The videos were very enlightening.
    NOW.. Here's my reaction :P

Wow... Well .. I definitely think you're brave to have tried it. As for me, I really don't think I would have been able to.. I consider myself a pretty open-minded person but enough to try dog meat, you've got me beat. (hehe it even rhymes) I'm kind of in the same mind-zone as your dad. I wouldn't be able to stop thinking of the dog before getting butchered.

  9. Thanks Ken,
This is my first expression after I watched your video. You know why, as we had its' opinion exchange through email. I' m surprised and glad with your positive cultural experience which must've been very hard on you and respecting the differences. Truly, Sam and I haven't tried it yet and not willing to try ever ^-^ love, Jess' mom

  10. They torture the meat before killing it as they believe it make the meat healthier. I cannot believe someone educated would do this. I am so ashamed of you. Educate yourself before engaging in such behavior. Please go to this site and see for yourself. Stop the cruelty. Www.notodogmeat.com

    1. Actually, educate yourself. That practice - beating the dogs to death- is widely disappearing. Eating cows, chicken, pigs is no better than eating dog meat. Come to Korea and look into these matters yourself, stop being brainwashed by dumb shit like:https://www.facebook.com/koreandogs

      Unless you're a vegetarian, you're a hypocrite.

  11. I am vegan and I am Korean. Educate your self.

South Korea is the World’s 14th largest economy yet an estimated 2.5 million dogs and thousands of cats are slaughtered and eaten as “health food” each year.

This Black Market Industry has never been legislated, regulated or even acknowledged by the World’s farming Industries or Food Standards Organizations. So why do Governments allow this practice to continue and set up expensive trade agreements to include animal welfare provisions, only to turn a blind eye?

Forced to endure deprivation and unimaginable torment from the moment they are born till the day they are slaughtered; dogs are imprisoned in cramped rusty raised cages all their lives with no protection from extreme weather and no water, exercise or medical care. Their eardrums are often burst to prevent them from barking.

In broad daylight, often in front of other live dogs, they are electrocuted, hanged, beaten or burnt to death. This is a profit-driven, tax free, unregulated industry that aggressively promotes the myth that eating a dog (especially the dog’s penis) enhances man’s virility and gives him energy. In addition, consumption peaks during the hottest days of summer!

Koreans “genuinely” believe that the more dogs suffer, the more the consumer will enjoy the health benefits and enjoy the meat. Many dogs are sadistically made to experience extreme fear and suffering prior to death. Cats are frequently boiled alive to make tonics believed to treat rheumatism. The demand is so high in South Korea 30% of the dog meat is now imported from China.

  12. Of course if you are REALLY that uncompassionate and unsympathetic to the plight of suffering animals, which you have shown in your video. Then god have mercy on your soul and I pray for you.
